Advanced Bass Fishing — a book by Rich Zaleski

The black bass is a paradox with fins. Despite being among the easiest fish to catch by accident, it may be the most difficult to catch with consistency. It survives – thrives, actually – in habitats that vary from the warmest and dingiest, to the coldest and clearest; in still water and flowing; in deep water and shallow. Unlike other gamefish, the bass isn't limited by physiology to certain parts of the lake or certain food sources. It will adapt its behavior to best fill whatever niche or niches might be available in any given environment, so there is no "set play" guaranteed to catch it on any given lake–any given day–any given cast.

"ADVANCED BASS TECHNIQUES" is unlike other fishing books you may have read. Instead of starting with techniques and trying to define where, when and how to use them, it starts with the fish, its environment, and the various factors that affect the way bass behave, and helps you develop the ability to interpret these factors, and use them to recognize the likely location and activity level of the fish under whatever conditions you are faced with, and to select and implement techniques that are appropriate under those conditions at those locations. Catch more and bigger bass
Learn seasonal patterns

This book will make it easier to put everything you learn about bass fishing from books, magazines, videos and on-the-water experience into perspective. Despite its name (I argued for a different name, but the publisher insisted on that one) you'll find precious few specific techniques defined in its 245 pages. Instead, you'll learn where, when and why to use any technique, and how to adjust your technique based on your own interpretations of existing condtions.

The theories and philosophy outlined in "Advanced Bass Techniques" are the products of a lifetime of recreational, competitive and research angling. My mission was not to tell the reader how or where to catch a fish, but to steer him toward a path that will result in a constantly expanding knowledge base and continually improving fishing results. Learn the importance of overhead cover and how to capitalize on it
Learn when and where to take advantage of exciting topwater opportunities

It's my understanding that it's no longer available directly from them. I had a limited number of copies, but they're now gone. You can sometimes find a copy for sale at ebay or amazon.com
