The last couple weeks have seen adult sized bluefish and stripers begin to invade the mouth of the Connecticut River for their annual early fall feeding binge. The action seems to have started a bit earlier than normal.

Fishing’s great when the ospreys are flying around

When we saw the Ospreys overhead, we knew the fish would be chewing.

Yesterday would have felt like a great day, if it wasn’t for…

If it wasn’t for the previous day, yesterday would have felt like an exceptional day on the river. The water temp actually hit 41 and stayed there. The fish — including the keeper sized fish — were active and the weather was reasonably comfortable with negligible winds and air temps in the fifties.

It’s Tuesday, so Steve & I hit the Housy this morning, despite what was predicted to be an all day, on and off rain. It turned out to be more of a drizzle than a real rain, but there was a lot more on to the rain than there was off.
